Background
The Law Offices of Samuel G. McTyre is a well established firm based in the
Washington, D.C. metropolitan area with a major focus in commercial and
immigration law practice representing corporations and individuals in the United
States and throughout the world.
It is our belief that the practice of law remains a service and the personal
relationship that must exist between a lawyer and his client is central to the
effective provision of that service.
The firm aims to provide an efficient and friendly service to the highest
standards. This aim demands not only professional excellence from our lawyers,
but an understanding of each client's individual needs and the application of
our skills to meet those needs. We therefore, expect our lawyers to have an
intimate knowledge of our clients' businesses and commercial context in which
those businesses operate.

Biography of Samuel G.
McTyre
Born in La Paz, Bolivia while his father was on a
foreign service tour there, McTyre was educated in American schools in Latin
America. He graduated from high school in 1970 at the Holy Cross School in New
Orleans, Louisiana. 
Fairfield University , a Jesuit liberal arts college in Connecticut, awarded McTyre a
Bachelor of Arts in History in 1974. While at Fairfield, McTyre was managing
editor of the university's weekly newspaper.
George Mason
University School of Law awarded him the degree of Juris Doctor in 1982.
While in law school he served in the Student Bar Association, the International
Law Society and was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity. In early
1983 he was admitted to the practice of law, by the District of Columbia Bar .
Pre Legal Experience (1974 - 1978): University of Southern California graduate school admissions, credit evaluations and financial aid.
Holladay Corporation; construction contract tracking and tradesman scheduling.
Aetna Life and Casualty; loss adjustment, investigations and reporting and
evidence gathering and preparation.
1978 - 1983: Stein, Mitchell & Mezines, LLP civil litigation support. Gammon & Grange; federal
communications and broadcast licensing. Inter-American Development Bank; intern Legal Department; contract review; administrative
grievances. Law Offices of
Eugene L. Stewart international trade litigation, antidumping and
countervailing duties claims.
Legal experience (1983 to the present): Upon admission to the District of Columbia Bar , McTyre began practicing in the D.C. Courts. In July of 1983, he
and a law school colleague, established the law partnership of McTyre &
Ketchie, a general practice law firm; in 1996, he became a partner in McTyre
& Owen, a general practice law firm providing legal services to the
immigrant and diplomatic communities as well as to foreign entrepreneurs. S.G.
McTyre, P.C. was established in July 2000. The firm serves as legal counsel to
some of the top Hispanic business in the Washington Metropolitan area. McTyre
has served as a board member and as legal counsel on countless boards (details
available upon request). He is currently legal counsel to the staff association
of the Inter-American Development
Bank .
