Generally speaking, petitions are forms filed by one person for the benefit
of another. Applications are, most often, forms used to directly request a
benefit.
Practically all forms filed with the BCIS (a.k.a INS) require supporting documentation.
Many forms also require other forms and may require finger prints. Filing a form
without the proper supporting evidence will create considerable delays for the
person seeking the benefit, the BCIS (a.k.a INS) and all others who seek BCIS (a.k.a INS) benefits.
The BCIS (a.k.a INS) assumes that anyone who files a form has read and understands the
instructions. If you have read the instructions and you are unsure how, why,
where, or when to file a form, consult a lawyer. The BCIS (a.k.a INS) does not return filing
fees.
